Leadership Fremont, a program that empowers individuals to assume leadership roles addressing community needs through the completion of a service project. This year’s class has selected Tri-City Health Center (TCHC) as its partner organization.
For 50 years, TCHC has delivered health services in a caring and respectful atmosphere while improving the quality of life for individuals and families in our community.
In January 2019, TCHC introduced its Food Farmacy, directly addressing prevalent health concerns of high blood pressure, malnutrition, obesity, and hypertension by using food as medicine. Monthly, over 50 patients bring their food prescription to the Food Farmacy to pick up fresh produce selected by a licensed dietitian rescued from local farmers’ markets.
The Food Farmacy program successfully addresses health, food insecurity, and food waste. However, there are challenges keeping this much-needed program from expanding. Although TCHC has many clients in need and multiple locations they only have the capacity to provide the Food Farmacy once a month at a single location.
With your help, we can increase TCHC’s Food Farmacy’s capacity.
We plan to purchase a refrigerated mobile unit to meet the program’s need for both refrigerated storage and transportation.
Please donate today and visit TCHC donation page if you have any questions or would like more information.
Thank you for your consideration of this important project.
